THE TAKING ON OF POWER
Neither the identification of personal power nor the development of cognitive means through which to apply power strategically are necessarily indicative of an evolutionary downturn likely to result in the extinction of our species. That may prove to be the case without more soulful cognitions through which to correct the paradigm imbalance. As a species we have not yet come to an understanding of the role of personal power or for that matter cognition in our lives.
PERCEPTIONS
Should you struggle
mightily
with messages of thought,
or take delight
in what they say
you have found a common
path
given us for many
thousands of years
upon our awakening.
It seems strange
that with the development
of these abilities
this should be the case.
For when those first
creatures
became aware of being
seeing, hearing, touching and all
with the reflective awareness
of life, witnessing
these things
there was no language
through which to capture
thought.
The same with the
child
who looks upon objects
she can not name
waiting for the future
to tell her
the symbols of thought.
These expressions
give power
to the humble and mighty alike…
much more to the latter.
And amplify resonance within.
They create a sphere
within which we live.
And all who know these things
agree to do so.
This power, for caring
or harm
offers a center for our universe
away from what was
before they were.
How then shall we
live with them?
How shall we still the forces
of conflict and disillusionment
power and thought have magnified?
There are ways to
create harmony.
Simple ways, alone and with others
that makes us whole. They enliven us
bring wisdom and comfort to the spirit
and teach us quietude and simplicity.
They provide pathways
to the heart
and make us glad to live
bearing those burdens we must
while giving thanks for what we are.
These are the sights,
sounds, taste, smell
and the touching of what is…
the gentle touching of what is.
With our fingers we balance ourselves
that the surface of
skin
and the depth of heart
know one and another
and their resonance calms
manifestations of disrelationship,
selfish power and thought.
With this beginning
we in our search
sense that we are
homeward bound
along pathways
to harmony.
